Remember, remember the 5th of November, to wrap up warm and snug. It’s probably the only time you will ever consider going outside in the cold to party…..but there is a reason. It’s so much fun.
Firework essentials, whether it is mild or chilly ; treat your winter woollies to their first outing. Warm hats, scarfs, mitts and the obligatory wellies and embrace the weather as part of a uniquely British, family firework tradition.
Stock up on sparklers and craft your own Guy Fawkes for your bonfire bonanza. Watch as the children’s face’s light up as their imagination is sparked when they use sparklers to paint their names in the open air and for those too young for sparklers, don’t let them miss out, glow sticks will let them safely join in the fun.
Bonfire food is also the best. Scrummy yummy treats to warm the soul. Sizzling sausages, fizzing cinder toffee, chewy, mouth watering treacle toffees and of course the best treat of all, deliciously crunchy, sticky toffee apples. Simple food for your firework festival feast also works best – just wrap up some potatoes and pop on the bonfire, layering on lashings of chilli or fill the air with the smells of eastern spices, conjuring up exotic beef tagine on an open fire.
Then as the sky is illuminated with neon colours and flashes of fireworks to the sounds of amazement and joy, serve up sticky rocky road brownies washed down with mugs of steaming deluxe hot chocolate whilst toasting marshmallows around the fire.
